Malam Minggu Lalu

Seronok eh duduk melepak sambil makan Mamee Monster, bercerita tentang kisah semalam. Huhu. Lepas tu aku nampak tourists lalu kat depan dataran sambil snap2 photo; tersengih-sengih mereka tengok kereta yang macam-macam jenis kat tengah bandar camni. Tu lah awak, percaya sangat kitorang ni duduk atas pokok! Kan dah kene tipu dengan iklan merapu tu semua!

Ini Falkor

Ok, situasinya begini. Rempit pun ramai jugak. Ehh, yang nak jual MLM pun ada! Siap isi2 borang atas bonet kete! Perghh..

Ok, memang takde hal.

Ini Falkor dan kereta kawan ah-beng-wannabe

TAPI TETIBE dia cakap “Apa yang seronok sangat melepak kat sini?”, “Ada tengok bangsa lain melepak kat sini?” Ok, ini sedikit melampau. Kalau nak mintak kami bersurai, cakap je “Sila bersurai”. Tak perlu provoke lebih2. In fact, ada kami memberontak masa pak polisi suruh bersurai??

Anyway, kenapa kerajaan tak nampak potensi Dataran Merdeka tu jadi tourist spot at night? Although I don’t like kereta Ah Beng, I think they ought to be given some highlights. Boleh buat weekly event kat situ. Daripada diorang pergi somewhere else where they serve boost and drugs, wouldn’t it be safer in the streets under the supervision of some authority? Tourist pun excited tengok something different about KL nightlife. Hey even families lepak kat situ!

And by the way pak polisi, there weren’t just Malays (if that’s what you were implying), there were Indians too. Ada satu bangsa je kat Malaysia ni, BANGSA MALAYSIA. Buat baik ke, jahat ke, semua pun kami sepakat ok! MUAHAHAHA!!

Keluarga Mak

Dah hampir dua minggu tak update blog ni. Pegi MTV World Stage aritu pun tak sempat update. Senang citer, takyah update lah oke? Lagipun, mase MTV World Stage tak berapa nak enjoy disebabkan kaki yang agak-agak tempang ketika itu. Huhuhu..

Tapi nak dijadikan cerita lagi (yer, memandangkan dah lama tak update korang), aku demam la pulak minggu lepas! Dari hari Selasa sampai ke hari Jumaat. Dokte kat tingkat 15 yang susah nak bagi MC tu pun merelakan aku cuti sakit 2 hari bai! Hari Jumaat patut dapat MC gak tapi memandangkan aku ni suka berlagak sihat, maka aku pun masuk kerja dalam keadaan separa sedar. Heh.

Alaa apa aku merepek ni. Aku sebenarnya nak bercerita pasal keluarga mak.

Semua anak-anak dia manjakan aku. Kejap orang ni dukung, kejap orang tu dukung. Ye lah, aku kan comel masa kecik-kecik dulu. Haha. Petang-petang suka pergi berjalan dengan kak Jie (anak mak). Lepas tu kalau abang (anak mak) nak dating sama bini dia, mesti bawak aku skali, konon-konon nak blaja jaga anak. Kecik-kecik aku dah jadi bahan eksperimen. Takpe, janji aku dibawa ke zoo tengok monyet. Monyet?! Ahh!

Hari Sabtu lepas sempat jumpa mereka kat Merlimau masa kami nak anta adik laki aku sambung belajar kat kolej XXX, Melaka. Jadi segan pulak jumpa diorang sebab tak jumpa lebih 20 tahun. Banyak betul cerita yang diorang bukak pasal aku. Siap tunjuk album gambar lama aku bergambar dengan diorang. Lepas tu cerita pasal aku nangis teresak-esak waktu diorang pindah balik Melaka. Pasal aku kalau takut langsir rumah bergoyang, aku mesti lari masuk rumah diorang sebab rumah diorang langsir tak bergoyang. Yer, aku penakut masa kecik. Kalau aku dengar bunyi tarian singa dari jauh pun, aku dah lari sembunyi dalam bilik sembahyang! Hahaha..

Tapi yang paling menyentuh perasaan bila mereka cerita pasal hidup berjiran dengan keluarga aci (keluarga nenek aku). Diorang berjiran dari tahun 60an hingga 80an. Dengan penuh perasaan bangga diorang cakap, “Mane lagi nak jumpe Melayu duduk, baring, bergolek2 dalam umah aci? Anak mak keluar masuk umah aci macam masuk umah keluarga sendiri. Kita dulu memang rapat dengan keluarga aci. Kalau malas nak keluar bilik, mesyuarat tingkap pun jadik lah!” Huhu.

Banyak jugak benda yang diorang tahu pasal keluarga nenek aku. Semua nama pakcik, makcik aku diorang ingat. Siapa pernah gaduh dengan siapa pun diorang tahu. Huhu.

What I like about my Samsung Galaxy S

Personalized home screens
You get seven home screens with Samsung Galaxy S so you get to put a lot of widgets and apps that you use on daily basis on the home screens!

Each screen can be personalized so you can have one screen dedicated to Internet (Browser, Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare, Emails, etc), one for music, one for calendar/daily briefs and one for photos. You can even have one screen dedicated for your boyfriend (put his contacts details, picture folder of you and him, the Direct Message widget so you can just touch and send message from the screen itself, etc). Hehe.

Super AMOLED screen
This feature you cannot deny lah. Super AMOLED screen is fantastic. You have to see it, feel it, and experience it, to believe it! The color display is so lively that you just want to show off to all your friends. Haha.

Swype
This is another feature that will make anyone impress. Without having to lift your finger, you can type a message by just drawing the path of the word you intend to type. Swype will try to identify the word you type and if it is unable to identify, it will list you some choices. Below is my attempt at typing the word ‘Help’. Notice that I didn’t even start from the letter ‘H’? Yeahh, I didn’t and it was still intelligent enough to identify the word I intended.

Do you also know that this is the fastest way to type on a touchscreen? PROVEN through a Guinness World Record in March 2010 by a Swype intern named Franklin Page. He managed to input 160 characters in just 35.5 seconds using Swype. Oh wai~

Camera
YOU MUST LOVE WHAT THE CAMERA CAN DO TO YOUR PICTURES. With so many modes to choose from and at 5.0mp, this brings down all the smartphone household names like iPhone and Blackberry.

Video
Must you NOT love the super nice video quality especially when viewing it on your Super AMOLED screen? O_o Besides this, read how Sapiensbryan views his video on his TV screen without having to transfer it to a CD or DVD. Yup, we’re talking direct output here. :)

Pinch and zoom
I know you could do this on most of the touch screen phones but yeahh, I love to find blackheads on my nose in my pictures and zooming into websites for no particular reasons but simply thrilled at the pinch and zoom feature on the phone. Haha!

Music player
Although I’ve mentioned in my previous post that I don’t really like the audio quality while recording video, I beg to differ on the music player because it is awesome! I usually can’t stand music played without the earphone because the sound projection is just bad, but with Samsung Galaxy S, I don’t have to play my CDs in the car, I can just play the songs out from the phone. For more review on the music player, go over to Keeman’s blog.

Connectivity
Must forgive me for loving the fact that I can wifi from this phone because my Corby cannot, okay? I can even turn my Samsung Galaxy S into a wireless modem so my brother and I can enjoy surfing the net from several laptopSSSS. But the downside is – how fast can a mobile internet be?? LOL! Then there is the internet browser that loads fast and easy to use. For someone who loves to give her shout outs, the Twitter and Facebook widget is very useful too.

I know I have a lot of nice things to say about the Samsung Galaxy S. Fret not because tomorrow I will reveal to you some little things that I think Samsung ought to modify, improve and fine-tune.

The Belanda story on HD video

Netherlands has secured its place in the World Cup finals! I am happy, excited, and freaking out! LOL!

So anyway, my boyfriend and I went to a restaurant last night to have our dinner but unfortunately the restaurant did not serve his favorite drink, the Durian Belanda juice. He was frustrated and he thinks that the restaurant hates the Holland (Belanda) team for beating Brazil in the quarter-finals so out of resentment they don’t serve Durian Belanda juice anymore. Here is a video of his so-called theory.

The voice not so clear eh? You can barely hear what he's saying. I recorded this using the Samsung Galaxy S phone that I just got. He was only about 70cm away from the phone. As a matter of fact, the video recorded more noise from the surrounding than his voice. Yes, he spoke softly (but he is definitely NOT a soft spoken guy okay) but I wished that the video recording could have captured his voice more than the surroundings. So the audio is a bit of a let down.

What I do like about the video is it captured quality video at night, and under a VERY low light. When the video is replayed in the phone, the combination of the HD video quality and the super AMOLED screen makes you want to download Madagascar 2 rightaway and watch it on your phone! Bright, vibrant, smooth and captivating. In fact, when I loaded the video onto my PC and watch it in full screen, it still did not fail to impress me.

So +1 to the video quality and -1 to the surrounding noise captured on audio. I won’t give a verdict just yet as there will be more videos to record and upload!

By the way, I am planning to try out the navigator on Samsung Galaxy S. Read what @tekong has to say about it.

MTV World Stage 2010 anyone?

I missed the MTV World Stage last year because I was in Beijing. I pretty much thought that it would not return to Malaysia ever again. But what do you know! MTV World Stage 2010 will be happening right here in Malaysia on the 31st of July! This year’s line-up includes Bunkface, Tokio Hotel, Katy Perry and Wonder Girls. Not as interesting as last year but what the heck, I’m game for it!

And what’s more interesting is I have got my passes to MTV World Stage 2010.

So how did I get my passes?

I won it. LOL!

The passes will not be on sale, so you gotta win them through various methods. One way to win it is via the MTV Asia World Stage website.

The passes will be given out at different time slots daily on the website. The time slots will be announced on the countdown clock on the HOME page. When the countdown strikes zero, you need to spot these two icons: ‘Junior’ or ‘Bee’; which will appear randomly on the top or the bottom of the site during these specific time slots.

Spot either one of them: Junior (the naked toyol) or Bee.

If you spot the icon, click it and answer a simple question about MTV World Stage (or the artists performing) and submit your details. If you get the answer correctly, a verification email will be sent to you to verify your personal details. Then just verify it, and walaa, you’ve just won yourself a pair of passes to MTV World Stage 2010!

It seems like an easy task but it’s not! I only won the passes during my Nth attempt. ‘N’ because I don’t know how many times I’ve tried previously! Your chances are pretty much slim because Junior and Bee does not land on each and everyone’s page. If you search in Twitter using the hashtag #worldstagemy, you will be overwhelmed by the frustration and angst of aggravated fans. Some has been trying since Day 1 of the contest and still have not won.

So how could I have won the passes?

I admit, I just got LUCKY.

There’s pretty much nothing you could do to ensure you WILL win the passes because the icons (Junior and Bee) will randomly land on someone’s computer screen. All you could do is click on every link in the website and pray that Junior or Bee will land in YOUR page.

Contest ends July 17, 2010 so you still have plenty of time to get lucky on the game! Meanwhile, STOP BEING SO WHINY. You might just win if you loosen up a bit.

She’s Out of My League

I don’t know about you but I realize that there are way too many romantic comedy movies this year. One after another, bringing in star actors and actresses from all around the world, but all with a cliché: It will either be about A who likes B but A thinks he/she can never get a shot at B OR A meets B at the most inappropriate place and in the most inconvenient way, they start to hate each other but they keep bumping into each other and they would soon fall in love.

Oh, and most the time, one of them will have a returning ex-boyfriend/girlfriend or is currently engaged to the most annoying/useless/shitty person.

Introducing She’s Out of My League with two of the above cliché.

Meet Kirk (played by Jay Baruchel), the guy who works at the airport, not as a pilot but a Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) officer. Sounds like a cool job, huh? Naahh, basically that’s the guy who would scan you at the gates.

Now meet Molly (played by Alice Eve). Molly is a hot chick. She is also a party planner. While at the airport, she accidentally left behind her i-Phone and got Kirk to hold on to the phone for her. The next day, Kirk went to a party hosted by Molly to return the phone and he got into a mess at the party so Molly felt sorry and invited him to hockey game the next day and so yeay he got another date. *oh man, what a lazy sentence!*

At the game, Kirk found out that Molly is really into him. He got nervous and later consulted his crazy/psycho/mad friends. And they came up with the equation of "She's a hard 10, you're a 5, no way can a 5 date a 10," which is pretty much the basis of this movie.

So, does a 5 deserve a 10? I’ve mentioned before, the storyline is what we’ve seen time and time again. So forget the storyline, just sit back and enjoy a good laugh. The movie somehow reminds me of American Pie so that’s good enough. In fact, what I like about the movie is I enjoyed every character. Watch out for Stainer, one of Kirk’s best buddy – he is a wacko but a very interesting guy with a great sense of humor. Devon (also Kirk’s best buddy) on the other hand reminds me of Disney. Haha. Don’t ask me why. Maybe it’s his hair. Or the blue coat. Or Aladdin and Jasmine? LOL! Oh, and Kirk’s family! I couldn’t stop laughing at their expression when they first met Molly!

It isn’t a must-see movie (how often can you actually recommend a romantic comedy movie as a must-see LOL) but if you’re left between the movie ‘Knight and Day’ and this, go for THIS. I’m serious. I watched ‘Knight and Day’ last night and I was grumbling the whole time! Well, that’s another story altogether.

And by the way, this movie is a little too sexy for the kids, so it's for the 18 and above. *winks*

May Blessings

The month of May had been a month of blessings. I participated in quite a number of contests and I’ve won several. I scored passes to concert, movie screenings, and indoor/outdoor events. I got some goodie bags too. Yeahh, I know, lucky me. But rest assure, not everything is about LUCK. I got to a point where I became a bit frustrated because people only acknowledge the LUCK that I have, and not my EFFORT or TIME spent to come up with something creative as most contest requires you think creatively. But nevermind lah, not everyone sees opportunity the way I see it. *chant to calm the frustrated soul*

I’m not here to brag, but I just won something – again. Yeay me.

I know it’s June, but I should still consider this as a blessing in May because the first winner notification came in May. And here is the winning post. Nothing to be proud of, really. I was merely doing my best. Why bother joining a contest when you don’t want to win, correct?

Quoting the boyfriend who said "God will pay for all the suffering you went through", I didn't know that God pays cash. LOL! I have an extra 2k in my pocket now (yes, taken!) but I plan to split it half with the boyfriend. I’m not being generous here. He simply DESERVES it. He had been spending a lot for me; always trying to help me out financially and he had taken some burden off me especially with Falkor’s need. I know he doesn’t expect any kind of repayment from me but I feel obliged to do it because it simply is the right thing to do. In fact, he needed a new phone (current phone problematic) but didn’t have extra cash to get one because he had been spending money on the car (Falkor). So this seems like the right decision. With the extra money that he has now, he can buy himself a phone. He takes off my clothes, and I take off his. He takes off my burden, and I take off his. Boy, I must really love you. :)

* A huge thanks to Nuffnang and Sloggi.
* Congratulations to all the other winners. Let's flash 'em bra.

Robin Hood (2010)

I believe the name Robin Hood is not foreign to any of us. We all know this guy and his marvel tale of being an outlaw and stealing from the rich to feed the poor. But how many of us know the story before he became the legendary Robin Hood? Here’s the movie to tell you what happened before he became an outlaw and dubbed as the Prince of Thieves.

I will not elaborate on the movie synopsis. Let’s just go straight into what I think of the movie.
  • I was quite bored with the storyline. I thought the movie tried to climax a little too many times. At one point, I was just hoping the movie would end soon.
  • For most part of the battle, I couldn’t see what was flying, whose blood is it, and what were they hitting. But hey, it’s a battle. You can’t make battles in slow-mo. Err... can you??
  • Props were kinda phony.
  • Robin Hood played by Russell Crowe looks a bit flabby. LOL. But other than, brilliant character.
  • I thought Cate Blanchett played her character (Maid Marian) well! She was calmed and composed.
  • Too many scenes going back and forth. I hated the idea of having to squeeze my brain juice to digest some scenes. Hukhuk.
  • During the final battle scene (when the Englishmen rode their horses towards the cliff), the background music changed abruptly. It sorta killed my mood.

Dang. I couldn’t think of any positive comments! I think I better stop reviewing before it gets too biased! Nevertheless, if you’re a fan of ancient battles, you might wanna catch this movie. I think many people will like the movie, but I just didn't. But mind you, not to compare this movie with Gladiator or 300. Robin Hood (2010) might just turn out as a decent movie – not GREAT great, but just fair enough.

Rise and rise again,
until lambs become lions.

* We watched this movie before the US release date! Yeay!
* Thank you R.AGE, for the double passes!

Colmar Tropicale, Berjaya Hill

I’ve been wanting to go there for quite some time because I heard so much about the place. So on Sunday (since we don’t know where else to go to spend time together), we decided to just go and see what’s so awesome up there.

But honestly, there isn’t really much to see except the VERY FEW French buildings, a rabbit farm, the botanical garden and the Japanese village. The food is very expensive but it did not come as a surprise. The only other thing that might interest you is paying RM25 ( i think) to be wrapped in kimono for 30 minutes. Or trying out the spa which costs a few hundred ringgit.

This is a quick update since I still haven't found the mood to blog seriously. So, I’ll just leave you with some MUST HAVE pictures from Colmar Tropicale. Trust me, you see this in every Colmar Tropicale photo album in your friend’s Facebook.

By the way, entrance fee is at RM 10 per person. Sheesh.

p.s. Puthaandu Nalvazhthukkal to all my Tamil, Sikh, Malayalee friends and family. May your dreams and wishes come true this year!

Hot Air Balloon

Kinda late to post this up but I just want to capture these moments in my blog. I was there on Saturday evening. Damn jealous looking at those VVIPs and media photographers getting the chance to go on a free fly. I should do more networking from now on. LOL.

So yeahh, here goes nothing.

Free fly session

Tethered hot air balloons

Night glow session

Fireworks display

Were you there?

Sunset in Port Dickson

Looks good, huh? No? C’mon, this has to be good since I used a camera phone that has only 2.0megapixels. And yes, it’s the camera phone that I won more than a month ago, thanks to Nuffnang and Samsung.

Of course I have done some editing to accentuate the lighting effect but despite the editing, I am satisfied with the capture quality. Very minimal motion blur despite the fact that we were jumping when we took the shots. The shots were so much better than using my Sony Cybershot that Sony claimed has anti-motion blur function. No, I am not complimenting because I HAVE TO, but because it is THE TRUTH.

Here’s another cool image captured using the Panorama Mode on my Samsung Corby camera phone! Honestly, I was surprised with the results. I kinda underestimated the capability of this camera phone! Like seriously look down. LOL.

Last but not least, sunset in Port Dickson.

* We’ve not done crazy things in awhile, so here’s a good start. It was a great weekend gateway.
* And Falkor behaved well, didn’t he? Hehehe…

Run Falkor, run!

Hello everyone. It’s that dreadful Monday again, isn’t it? I know, I had a wonderful weekend too, so it’s really frustrating that I have to wake up this morning thinking about the work ahead of me today. Why can’t work just work it out by itself? Why do I have to do all the work? Oh. That sounds stupid. Blame it on the blues. *yawns*

Anyway, Mondays aside, I’m actually excited to tell you, you and YOU about my weekend! It started off as a boring Saturday morning (don’t ask about Friday coz I was at work – ouhh, I just told you, #$@%^&*!) when the boyfriend suddenly called and suggested to hunt for a new set of shoes for Falkor. Of course I agreed because I just want to be with the boyfriend Falkor needs it badly. So off we went to Rawang along with Syed!

Saturday 27 February, Rawang, 4:00 p.m.

The first shop we visited gave us the shivers. We negotiated for a set of rims but because he started the price too high, we walked away, and while we were about to drive away, the foreman came knocking on the windscreen and offered a cheaper price. We bargained. He said wait, let me ask the boss, he came back, he agreed to our price but with some conditions of course. We said no, and he went in again, he came back, and said last price, we told him we want to look around first. We were about to drive away AGAIN, when he came knocking the windscreen AGAIN and said that if we decide to come back, we won’t get the same price. We said thanks and this time we REALLY HOPE and PRAYED he won’t come knocking on the windscreen again. Thank God he didn’t, haha.

A few shops later, we decided that we will go to Klang on Sunday for more choices. But the best bargain we had was at RM900 (after trade-in) for a set of 16” P1 rims and Nankang tires. WTH.

Sunday 28 February, Klang, 3:00 p.m.

After looking around for more than an hour around Klang shops, the boyfriend and I became fond of Advan RS rims since we first saw it but 15” stock was not available in most shops. One shop told us they have it, but to our dismay, the stock is in Penang and will arrive in two weeks time. Since we are not that desperate for Advan RS, we settled for a set of SSR rims instead. In fact, the deal for SSR rims was far greater so we went back to the shop which offered us the SSR rims.

For RM1,200 (after trade-in), we got a new set of Yokohama C-drive tires and SSR 15” rims with installation at no additional cost. Even the wheel nuts we rembat! Haha!

SSR 15" rims *imitation, cough cough, who doesn't*

Guys will be guys. Satisfaction that comes with dissatisfaction. Go figure!

It’s a great offer and I am satisfied with the choice of tires and rims. They are comfortable and smooth on the road; perhaps because the height ratio is bigger. The boyfriend feels that the tires are quiet too.

Now start running Falkor! We gotta keep you fit to drag! Perasan.

* Between Rawang and Klang, there is not much comparison in price tag. But in terms of choices and good tyres, waste no time and just head to Klang!
* Weekend was also spent eating seafood in Tanjung Harapan, camwhoring in i-City, and watching drag battle in Cyberjaya, but that's another story altogether!
* Tinkypoo??!!! WTH!

Cravings

I was craving for Nasi Kerabu last week and thanks to the boyfriend, I had my cravings satisfied on Sunday! Although I did complain about the the rats I saw on one of our visit to the stall, I must say it was quite good. *Or izzit because of the rats that it tasted good?! @#$%^&*

Blue coloured rice is a must!

One day later, I was craving for Kung Pao Chicken. =.=

Kung Pao chickenTooooooooooooo delicious!!

So now, how lah, the boyfriend?

CNY Break

Today is Wednesday; and I am experiencing the Wednesday Blues. How about you? Oh, you’re still on holiday? You memang lebey! Hukhuk..

Anyway, I hope it’s not too late to wish Happy Chinese New Year to my Chinese aunties, uncles, cousins and Malaysians. I hope that the Year of Tiger will bring more joy and prosperity, great health and ggrrrrreat fortune!

And more thanks to Chinese Malaysians; we have two public holidays dedicated for them, thus giving me more time to enjoy the long-stretched-weekend! Ehehehe…

Now here’s to share with the world what I did during the CNY break.

Ome got Engaged!

Congrats babe! Sorry we were ALL late. Blame it on the boyfriend, please. Heh.

She is not Ome.

She is not Ome either.

Here’s Ome. No, not the one with the flowers again! Haha!

Fireflies Kg Kuantan

Before heading back to KL from Kuala Selangor where Ome’s engagement took place, we stopped at Kg Kuantan to watch fireflies along the riverbank. At RM 40 per sampan (max. 4 person, but kids can nego-nego lah), you get to watch thousands of fireflies flashing their lights in a synchronized manner. It’s like watching hundreds of flashing Christmas trees.

They; who enjoyed the most.

The fireflies are such quite creature. It felt so calm to be WITH them. No words can describe how I felt that night. Not even Owl City’s lyrics! It was just an innocent feeling. Aah, I’ll leave it up to your imagination.

Surf Bike in Taman Tasik Perdana

It was a boring Monday morning when the boyfriend suggested that we go for a movie. Since the GSC online ticketing was not available temporarily (server always down eh!), we made our way to Berjaya Times Square only to be disappointed that the movie tickets for Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief was sold out. What a waste of our parking fee!

Disappointed and annoyed that we have not been able to watch ANY movie together for the past one month or so, we finally decided to kayaking in Taman Tasik Perdana. But upon reaching the lake, we changed our decision and settled for the surf bike.

It was fun and a great work out for the lazy bumps! LOL!

Sg Gabai Waterfall, Hulu Langat

This trip was totally UNPLANNED of. My butt still hurts from sliding down the rocks. Haha!

So, how was your Chinese New Year break?
