What is a Banner Concert?

After publishing the previous post, someone asked me in Facebook, what is a BANNER CONCERT? How is it different from any other concert? And why the name ‘Banner’?

The idea of Banner Concert was first introduced by Axion, a Belgian BANK. To show their continuous support for the younger generation (which will BANK on them someday), Axion and Boondoggle created a platform for young musicians to get their music on stage. But this musician do not break the ground through the conventional way, it was through an environment where most young bands are already trying to break through: the web. No, not the other conventional way of achieving fame through Myspace – this time it is done by streaming live-gigs in the form of banners! Look at this example by Boondoggle:

Here in Malaysia, Bunkface has also been given their own banner concert. Check out this video below:

Now that you get the idea of A BANNER CONCERT, maybe you can check out other artists that should also receive credits for recording a banner concert at http://everyoneconnects.net. Watch Tomok – your winner (and a favorite) of OIM 3, Modread – the band that was formed through the Hot FM Twisties Bingit competition in 2008 and Shila – she’s ND Lala’s daughter??? She’s good!

And if you want to have your own banner concert, you should seriously upload your solo/band video NOW at http://www.everyoneconnects.net/site/upload.aspx for a chance to perform at the Everyone Connects big event happening on 21st November!

Or you could also attend the Banner Concert auditions at the Orange Entrance, Sunway Pyramid on the following date and time:
    October 31: 12.00pm-6.00pm
    November 1: 12.00pm-6.00pm

The finals would be held during the big event. What’s more, you can also join the Sing Along Booths at the following location:

Sounds like so much fun! Can’t wait for D-day! I’m gonna bring you LIVE update! I promise! *winks*

I knew it!

I was right in my earlier post! As I have suspected, BUNKFACE is THE band that sang the song which got the whole nation buzzing! I found out about this from the Everyone Connects official website. Yeay me! Gotta ring Sam and say, “Gotcha!” – oh wait, I lost his number. Haha.

Bunkface also made a statement through their Facebook Fan Page which I thought was pretty thoughtful and humble:
“Through My Window - This song is not ours, it’s everybody’s. This song is owned by the public who collaborates to sing this song and believe in what it’s promoting… We’re just lucky to be the initial band behind this song. So, follow up guys!! There will be so much more!!”

But then again, without the constant update from the Facebook Fan Page for Everyone Connects, I wouldn’t have known that they revealed the band. They were constantly updating us day in-day out about what’s all this hype about and what more to look out for. It was really fun to read all those comments from fans. Can you believe that someone actually suggested the artist who sang “Through My Window” is MAWI???!! If that was EVER true, that’d be soooOoo SPOOoOOkY! *faints*

As I have further suspected, the song is only an ‘introduction’ for a BIGGER SURPRISE. After the official site revealed the band name that first created major havoc with the song “Through My Window”, they begin to put the puzzles in place for us. Apparently, this is a promotional idea to promote the banner concert where online banners are converted into concert stage. The banners lead to a contest where auditions will be held to find the performers with the best rendition of “Through My Window”. If you’re one of the best, you might as well stand a chance to perform live at their event!

It may not be a fresh-from-the-oven idea, really, but it is definitely a bracing idea in Malaysia! I mean, who came up with that idea HERE?? It’s a very risky idea! What if it didn’t turn out the way they wanted it to be? What if no one cared about the song that was used to promote the banner concert?? Oh well, it’s ALL GOOD now! Haha.

P.S.
Have you seen the ad on TV yet? That’s such a sweet ad! I love the expressions they gave to each other when they felt pity for the paper-boy who was looking out at the paper-girl. It kinda tells us that the body language can get us connected to one another and that feelings can be expressed through expression and words need not to be spoken.

Download the song, the ringtones and the video at http://www.everyoneconnects.net now! Where else can you get FREE entertainment?! Oh - and I freaking love Shila's rendition!

AAWWWW!!

It was a worth-while journey to Muar. Watching one of your closest friend get married is ABSOLUTELY sad fun!

No more late night movies, sleepovers! UWaaaaaaa!!!!

I wanted to say this back then on your wedding day, but I didn't want to cry with you so here's a toast for Wedding of the Year.
Here's to the prettiest, Here's to the wittiest, Here's to the truest of all who are true, Here's to the sweetest one, Here's to them, all in one - here's to you.

My greatest wish for the two of you; hopeful that through the years, your love for each other will so deepen and grow. And years from now you will look back on your wedding day as the day you loved each other the least.

Now that you're not gonna use the condoms we gave you, go make some babies. Erk.

It's here again!

THREE stages
More than 50 artists to perform
And the best of all - the venue is Sunway Lagoon Theme Park!

Unlike last year's venue which is beyond humiliation, I really hope they stick to the plan as seen in the poster! And one glance at the poster, it sure looks fun and exciting! Totally the opposite of last year's poster.

Again, if they stick to the plan, the price of the ticket is damn worth it! No, wait - no mention of the bands performing yet?? Sounds like a plan. Aah.

* As usual, did I mention I hate Koffin Kanser? Gagagaga!!

Through My Window

What a tiring day it was yesterday! But hey, thanks to everyone who made it here. Pini, Aiena, Hanim, Pok, Syed and err, his friend?? Or was it his cousin?? Heh, sorry Syed, it wasn’t my fault! You did not introduce him to me!

ANYWAY, thank goodness, I took another day OFF today! So today is the day that I can get some rest, watch some tv and listen to the radio, which reminds me – it’s been awhile since I tuned-in to Hitz.fm! Gaaaahhh.. I used to be sort of addicted to the station until, work caught up with me. LOL~

While I was tuned-in to the station, the DJ played a song which reminded me of a local band though. I did not get the song title but it kept repeating “through my window..la la la.. you and me..” Gosh! Those few lines kept playing in my head! And I’m still tuned-in to the station, hoping that I would bump into the song again. Huhu.

But maybe someone else besides me heard it? *Well of course, it’s a radio station for goodness sake! Yikes.*

I got a band in mind, and I’m pretty sure it’s a local band. It’s definitely one of my favorite local bands. I’ve checked the CD Aimar gave me, and nope, it’s not in the album. But I wouldn’t wanna jump into ANY conclusion just yet. Maybe a pixelated picture of the band might help? Ahaa.

Aaaa... did I make it too obvious?? Hehe.

Oh, and I’ve tried Google. I’m normally good at telling people, “Just google it okay, the internet knows NO boundary”. I guess that serves me right coz I found NO answers!

Anyone? I belanja you teh tarik mamak if you got the song title. If I got the song title myself, well, I guess I’ll belanja myself! Dang!

+HELP+

* Thanks Aimar, for being the handsome usher helping out a lot yesterday! And no, Aleeya is NOT the-madu. Ggrrrr...

Diwali Invitation

Come 17th October, I will be celebrating the Festival of Lights. This year's celebration will be a mix of sweet, bitter and spice. It's gonna be a whole new meaning of happiness to my family. Yet, amidst all the joy, there is still a little regret deep in my heart. I regret that what has happened cannot be undone. Although I know it is not my fault that life has to move this way, I cannot help myself from feeling sorry. And I am especially sorry to my grandma because for the first time, WE are celebrating away.

But this cannot be a reason to not share a little bit of happiness with everyone else, right? So, come and celebrate Diwali with me and my family on the 18th of October, 2009. The house may be old, small, and cheap, but I assure you that we have plenty of food for everyone!

For venue details, you've got to ask me personally. I can't reveal to0 much else BENDERA might attack my family. Or better still, the anonymous who boycott's 1 Malaysia - she's got a problem with the Kelings. Must be bad-parenting. Lalala~

* Ohh, it's a 'she'?? Sheesh, give some space to the lady, will you?!
* If takde sape datang, aku merajuk 30 hari 30 malam tanak bukak Fesbuk! Erk~

Painting

What a weekend!

From left, clockwise: Mum the Tukang Bancuh, Raj the Over-excited Giraffe, Jen the Emo Cover Girl, and Kishen the Stinky Butt-boy.

We FINALLY got the living room painted after MONTHS of planning. Haha. But the detailing work of door frames will only commence next week. And so will the kitchen walls - which we have not bought the paint yet. Bedrooms? Maybe next year! Gagaga~

* Sorry for the terrible picture quality. China phone, biasa la. Haha.
* AAR concert postponed. Aihhh.. Hujung tahun la jawab nyer!
