Dear Malaysians

Dear Malaysians,

Although for the first time in 47 years 16th of September is declared a public holiday today, let us not forget that we have been Malaysia since 1963.

Let us not forget that our forefathers had fought very hard to gain independence and to form Malaysia.

Therefore;

Let us cherish this day and bring great awareness to fellow Malaysians on the significance of Malaysia Day.

Let us appreciate the pain, the hard work, and the compromise that our forefathers have endured to carve the Document of Unity, our Constitution.

Let us carry on the tradition of our forefathers to be friendly to our neighbours, to show love to all races and to teach our kids discipline – to which; we have lacked in all the departments.

And;

Let us bring Malaysia up for the world to see with great admiration and we will be feared.

Our forefather has accomplished a lot in the past for the betterment of his kids, his grandchildren - us. Why are we disappointing them?

Build this nation; not destroy it. If we destroy it, we will be crushing thousands of hearts of our forefathers.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MALAYSIA!

Signing off,
One hopeful Malaysian.

Paramore Live in Kuala Lumpur Presented by Tune Talk Mobile Prepaid

Oh yes, besides the glamorous American Idol winner Adam Lambert, Paramore is ALSO coming to KL this October to rock you people!

Yours truly, also a pop punk band from America, is set to rock the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on October 19, 2010 from 8.30pm till late.

When I first heard of Paramore, I thought to myself that this band is gonna be just like any other pop punk band that will hit mainstreams with their one hit wonder. After all, one of their single from the Riot album was entitled ‘Crushcrushcrush’! Hahaha! Okay, lame joke. =.=

But I thought wrong.

When their third and current album Brand New Eyes hit stores worldwide, that’s when I started to take their music more openly. As much as I hate myself for doing so, I actually grew fond of the band. Their music is completely harmless. Although I think their target group of listeners would be a bunch of fifteen year-old kids in their brightly colored jeans learning the meaning of life, I think it’s fairly enjoyable by anyone who just wants to listen to some catchy, harmless pop-punk music.

And the front woman, Hayley Williams, she is the gem of this band. Yes, I affirm that she’s got a great singing voice. I can’t wait to see her sing live (oh i'm going?! hehehe), what more to see what she’d be wearing on that day! Her slim figure definitely compliments anything she dons! Ehh, or is it the other way around?? Heh.

So all you Paramore fans, don’t miss this chance to catch them LIVE this October! Ticket price is between RM98 to RM358 so start counting that duit raya, buy less junk food (just don’t starve), don’t bother the iPhone 4 and beg from mummy! LOL!

Paramore Live in Kuala Lumpur 2010 is made possible thanks to Tune Talk, the country’s fastest growing prepaid mobile service. Tickets are available at www.airasiaredtix.com and www.ticketpro.com.my, as well as over the counter at Rock Corner and TicketPro outlets.

For more details of this awesome concert, go to www.rockthisjoint.com.my

This Useless Post

The last time I updated my blog was on the 1st of September, 2010 and that was 13 days ago. This useless post will tell you what I’ve been up to since that day and why I am being such a jacka$$ for not updating this blog. Not that it is an obligation to update anyway.

I just got myself a domain and a hosting thanks to Exabytes. Been thinking of moving this blog to a dot com for some time now and am glad this is gonna happen soon.

Problem is, since the blog is gonna be powered by Wordpress, I am having difficulties finding the RIGHT theme for my new blog. I need a REALLY COOL DARK THEME and I can’t find it! Yes there are hundreds and thousands of themes on the internet but trust me, I’ve been in and out of sites offering free themes and yet, I have found none to my liking! I tried matching light-colored themes to my blog but nah, I’m all gloomy and emo so it doesn’t work that way.

So there you go. I am basically annoyed that I can't find the right theme though I've decided on a theme yesterday. Am not satisfied, but that's all I have. I can create my own theme but time is simply jealous of me.

And yeah you can say it’s difficult to please me.

On another note, I guess I have not wished my Muslim readers Selamat Hari Raya but I can still do it right since “Puasa sebulan, Raya pun sebulan!”. LOL. It’s the fourth day of Raya and traffic this morning is still awesome. Left Shah Alam at 7.25a.m and arrived at my office in Kerinchi at 7.50a.m. So you guys can take the extra leave until the end of this week. I approve all your leaves! Haha!

Anyway, before I start talking nonsense (like this make any sense, duhh), I would like to wish Selamat Hari Raya to all my Muslim readers and bloggers. As much as you ask for forgiveness from your friends and family, remember to forgive them as well. Don’t hold grudges too long.

Life is short and life is so temporary.

p.s. I'll be moving soon so keep your eyes on the next post!

Signal light

Akibatnya, masa kereta tu brek tetibe untuk pancung lane aku, motor kat belakang tak sempat nak brek abis, jadi bergesel dgn Myvi lalu terjatuh tepi keta aku.

NO way aku nak kasi can kat korang. Sila beradab sket ketika ada kesesakan lalulintas. Semua orang nak sampai ofiz awal, bukan kau sorang je. Kau angkat tangan tanda respek, lagi aku suka. Sekurang2nya kalau kau bagi signal light, org tepi kau tau, org blkg kau nampak. Takde lah sampai nak ter-eksiden.

Aku rasa aku nak implement benda sama minggu depan. Sape pancung tanpa signal light, memang aku nak honk. Signal light tu takde la jauh mane dari stering dan takde la berat pun. Lagi pun stuck in traffic jam ni sangatlah membosankan. Boleh jadi hobi baru honk2 orang nih. Haha.

Disappointed with Pizza Hut

We were at a Pizza Hut in Persiaran Ara Kiri, Bangsar several days ago for buka puasa and I just want to express how disappointed I am with their service.

First of all, the staff did not allow us to make reservation for buka puasa although we were as early as 6pm. I even offered to place my order and PAY for the food beforehand to secure a reservation but it was denied as well. They claimed that the premise will be packed later and other people might take our seats/table.

Well, you can just put up a reservation tag on the table, can’t you?

To this, the staff claimed that they don’t have reservation tags. Mind you, when we were at the mamak several days ago, they just wrote “RESERVED” on a piece of paper and reserved a table for us. What’s so difficult about doing that?? We got a table reserved at a mamak, but not at this Pizza Hut. O_o

Although annoyed, the boyfriend and I decided to just stay and wait until it’s buka puasa time. The waiter took our order at approximately 6.15pm and we were left surfing the internet until it was buka puasa time.

10 minutes into buka puasa time and the premise was only half full. Yeahh, so much for “will be packed later and other people might take your seats/table”. LOL!

The Nasi Kurma Ayam came and we were simply too flabbergasted. Nak mintak tukar, kesian, sebab tengok muka letih staf yang berpuasa.

Doesn't look like the one illustrated, does it?

Then it was already buka puasa time but the Pizza was still not served. Shall we remind you that we came at 6pm and our order was taken at 6.15pm? Buka puasa is ONE HOUR LATER and yet you can’t serve ON TIME?? A friend said, “diorang nak pastikan Pizza tu masih panas bila sampai kat meja kot”.

10 minutes later the Pizza arrived. It was NOT that hot to claim it just came out of the oven. And you know pizzas will not taste that good if it isn’t served hot, right? DOUBLE FACE PALM.

So yes, I am very, very disappointed and ANNOYED with the service at the Pizza Hut in Persiaran Ara Kiri, Bangsar.

Dah lah PERASAN ramai orang nak makan kat situ, servis lembab, buah kurma pun bagi 2 bijik je utk share dua org?? Wehh, mamak pun bagi agar-agar+tembikai+kurma la bai!

p.s. Before any of you suggest that the staffs are probably too tired of fasting, well it should NOT be an excuse for the terrible service overall.
p.p.s There is nothing special about the Citarasa Ramadhan so you can just skip the idea of breaking fast with this offer.

Citarasa Ramadhan Pizza Hut

You tengok dia punya menu berbuka puasa, gempak kan?

Sekarang you tengok Nasi Kurma Ayam yang kitorang dapat.

Hampa kan?

Nak wat camne, dah diorang tulis
“Products shown are for illustration purpose only.”

Tapi masih rasa tertipu kan? Jom boikot! :P

p.s. Besok aku nak kutuk Pizza Hut cawangan kat Bangsar pulak, ok? :P

I should be sleeping now

But I am still awake!

This is not my usual cycle. If I'm home doing nothing, I would usually fall asleep by 11pm. Something is bothering me. Hmm.

Missing someone, perhaps? Aahh, 99 percent of my heart says YES. T__T

Since I am awake and have nothing better to do with my time, I thought I should share with you gals and guys my luncheon with Nicole and TianChad yesterday afternoon. It was totally spontaneous that we decided to have our lunch together at the Old Town Kopitiam somewhere near KLCC.

So there we were, having our lunch and talking nonsense. Haha. But for most of the time, I think they had to layan my crappy stories. LOL!

But seriously, we had a lot to talk about. Especially when all three of us loves participating in contests. We talked about past contests that we had won, exchanged contest notes, discussed the latest contests that might interest us and even talked about pregnancy.

Yes, we talked about pregnancy. I don't know how that came up but it did! And TianChad was just giving us the blur look when Nicole and I got a little carried away talking about pregnant mums. Haha. And yes, I do find mum with her little baby bump sexy!

Gawd I don't know what does this blog entry serves! This must be one of the laziest entry ever in the history of BEDTIME STORIES!

WHICH reminds me, do you think I should get my own domain name? And if I should, which is a more appropriate name, www.bedtimestorie.com or www.atreyustrange.com? Or do you have any other suggestion? This was even discussed during our lunch. Jealous eh they got their own domain name! =.=

Malam Minggu Lalu

Seronok eh duduk melepak sambil makan Mamee Monster, bercerita tentang kisah semalam. Huhu. Lepas tu aku nampak tourists lalu kat depan dataran sambil snap2 photo; tersengih-sengih mereka tengok kereta yang macam-macam jenis kat tengah bandar camni. Tu lah awak, percaya sangat kitorang ni duduk atas pokok! Kan dah kene tipu dengan iklan merapu tu semua!

Ini Falkor

Ok, situasinya begini. Rempit pun ramai jugak. Ehh, yang nak jual MLM pun ada! Siap isi2 borang atas bonet kete! Perghh..

Ok, memang takde hal.

Ini Falkor dan kereta kawan ah-beng-wannabe

TAPI TETIBE dia cakap “Apa yang seronok sangat melepak kat sini?”, “Ada tengok bangsa lain melepak kat sini?” Ok, ini sedikit melampau. Kalau nak mintak kami bersurai, cakap je “Sila bersurai”. Tak perlu provoke lebih2. In fact, ada kami memberontak masa pak polisi suruh bersurai??

Anyway, kenapa kerajaan tak nampak potensi Dataran Merdeka tu jadi tourist spot at night? Although I don’t like kereta Ah Beng, I think they ought to be given some highlights. Boleh buat weekly event kat situ. Daripada diorang pergi somewhere else where they serve boost and drugs, wouldn’t it be safer in the streets under the supervision of some authority? Tourist pun excited tengok something different about KL nightlife. Hey even families lepak kat situ!

And by the way pak polisi, there weren’t just Malays (if that’s what you were implying), there were Indians too. Ada satu bangsa je kat Malaysia ni, BANGSA MALAYSIA. Buat baik ke, jahat ke, semua pun kami sepakat ok! MUAHAHAHA!!

Keluarga Mak

Dah hampir dua minggu tak update blog ni. Pegi MTV World Stage aritu pun tak sempat update. Senang citer, takyah update lah oke? Lagipun, mase MTV World Stage tak berapa nak enjoy disebabkan kaki yang agak-agak tempang ketika itu. Huhuhu..

Tapi nak dijadikan cerita lagi (yer, memandangkan dah lama tak update korang), aku demam la pulak minggu lepas! Dari hari Selasa sampai ke hari Jumaat. Dokte kat tingkat 15 yang susah nak bagi MC tu pun merelakan aku cuti sakit 2 hari bai! Hari Jumaat patut dapat MC gak tapi memandangkan aku ni suka berlagak sihat, maka aku pun masuk kerja dalam keadaan separa sedar. Heh.

Alaa apa aku merepek ni. Aku sebenarnya nak bercerita pasal keluarga mak.

Semua anak-anak dia manjakan aku. Kejap orang ni dukung, kejap orang tu dukung. Ye lah, aku kan comel masa kecik-kecik dulu. Haha. Petang-petang suka pergi berjalan dengan kak Jie (anak mak). Lepas tu kalau abang (anak mak) nak dating sama bini dia, mesti bawak aku skali, konon-konon nak blaja jaga anak. Kecik-kecik aku dah jadi bahan eksperimen. Takpe, janji aku dibawa ke zoo tengok monyet. Monyet?! Ahh!

Hari Sabtu lepas sempat jumpa mereka kat Merlimau masa kami nak anta adik laki aku sambung belajar kat kolej XXX, Melaka. Jadi segan pulak jumpa diorang sebab tak jumpa lebih 20 tahun. Banyak betul cerita yang diorang bukak pasal aku. Siap tunjuk album gambar lama aku bergambar dengan diorang. Lepas tu cerita pasal aku nangis teresak-esak waktu diorang pindah balik Melaka. Pasal aku kalau takut langsir rumah bergoyang, aku mesti lari masuk rumah diorang sebab rumah diorang langsir tak bergoyang. Yer, aku penakut masa kecik. Kalau aku dengar bunyi tarian singa dari jauh pun, aku dah lari sembunyi dalam bilik sembahyang! Hahaha..

Tapi yang paling menyentuh perasaan bila mereka cerita pasal hidup berjiran dengan keluarga aci (keluarga nenek aku). Diorang berjiran dari tahun 60an hingga 80an. Dengan penuh perasaan bangga diorang cakap, “Mane lagi nak jumpe Melayu duduk, baring, bergolek2 dalam umah aci? Anak mak keluar masuk umah aci macam masuk umah keluarga sendiri. Kita dulu memang rapat dengan keluarga aci. Kalau malas nak keluar bilik, mesyuarat tingkap pun jadik lah!” Huhu.

Banyak jugak benda yang diorang tahu pasal keluarga nenek aku. Semua nama pakcik, makcik aku diorang ingat. Siapa pernah gaduh dengan siapa pun diorang tahu. Huhu.

LENOVO What’s Your Idea of FUN contest

About two months back, Lenovo organized a contest on twitter which required us to vote for our idea of fun and tweet a slogan using the hashtag #LenovoFUN.

I gave it a shot and I won.

I went to pick up the winning prize late yesterday evening from the Lenovo office in Damansara. I won Isetan shopping vouchers worth, well, let’s just say enough to last for a year. Hehe.

Pictured here with Mdm Hui Hui. Picture credits to Miss Ella Ng of LenovoMY.

So how am I going to spend the vouchers? Wisely. I’m reserving some for the festive season so that I can take my mum and siblings for a shopping spree. What a relief, a little weight is off my shoulder. Now I wouldn’t have to worry so much about the festive season expenses. Thank you so much Lenovo for making this idea of fun a dream come true. You rock my socks. =D

And hopefully, I can get something special for you too. *winks*

Munchy’s Sound of Muzic

Listen up people. There’s a new contest in town. You don’t have to come up with a creative blog posts (I know you hate having the same people win the contests – no pun intended), and you don’t have to write creative slogans (again, you hate them on Twitter). All you gotta do to win some prize is use your mouth and make some beautiful music to the sound of MUZIC Water Jungle!

You haven’t heard of the MUZIC Water Jungle?? What a pity! Here, let me play you the TVC. (Err.. please click the PLAY icon to play the video. Heh.. )

Or you can download the song here.

Now that you know how it sounds like, go record a video of yourself making some music! Here’s what else you can do to ‘enhance’ the sound of music from your mouth: use props! Like your mum’s frying pan, or your daddy’s ashtray, or your own pails from the dormitory.

IMPORTANT:
Video should not be longer than 30 seconds and DON’T FORGET THE MUZIC WAFER PACK! It must be featured in your video submission.

So what’s the prize like?

Stage 1 Prize: Video Submission
Top 20 finalist will win a Munchy’s hamper worth RM50 each

Stage 2 Prize: Rank & Vote
3 x iPad 32GB for 3 finalist with the highest number of votes

There are also prizes for the voters. Woot, woot! 10 lucky voters with the most accurate rank of the top 3 finalist will walk away with an iPod 8GB each!

So what are you waiting for, go make some noise so I can steal your idea after watching it! Submit your video by the 5th of August, 2010 to qualify. Voting will be between 11th to 31st August, 2010. For more information, log on to www.munchysmuzic.com

#Maxis10 Happy Ending

Late this evening, I received a very pleasant e-mail regarding the Maxis10 Reviewers Programme. Ah yes, you guessed it right, I get to keep the phone! I am stoked and I am absolutely happy that they have found my reviews to be worthy of keeping the phone!

I would like to thank Maxis for the opportunity given to review the Samsung Galaxy S. It is definitely one of the best Android phone in the current market. In fact, I have received so many positive feedback from friends and family about the phone. I bet they would envy me NOW THAT I AM THE OWNER of the phone. Hehe..

Also, congratulations to all the #Maxis10 reviewers. I honestly think we all did a great job in the review. In fact, every one of us were unique in the way we write the reviews. So, kudos to all! I'm gonna miss our tweets about the phone using the #Maxis10 hashtag. I have definitely learned a lot of tips and tricks on the Samsung Galaxy S. *sob sob*

Last but not least, thanks to everyone who has lend their support. Mmuaah mmuaah~

* I just got news that the car needs to be towed to the workshop for further inspection. Sigh.. One point to #Maxis10, ZERO to Falkor.. T__T

Meet Rocky and Button

Oh look, I found out what else the video on Samsung Galaxy S can do!

A black and white video effect

And a sepia video effect!

Woot! Two super nice effects! Although between the two, I love the sepia effect more. I think if Indie artistes plan to have their own music video at low cost, they can just consider shooting the video from this phone! Go old school with black and white effect or dramatic with sepia effect. LOL!

By the way, that's the hamsters I bought for my lil' brother. He was bugging me for weeks until I finally decided to get him the pet. But it looks like I am having more fun watching and filming them. I'm planning to get a bigger cage though. Look at how that female one climbing up and down the cage. And maybe to get her that wheel thingy to ride on too. Err.. anyone know how much I should budget for all these?? Huhu..

* I want to keep the phone! RAAWWRR!!
* Thanks to the boyfriend who had helped me upload these two lovely videos on Youtube.

#Maxis10 Review Wrap Up

So this might be goodbye. My sweet two-week affair with the Samsung Galaxy S might just end anytime soon. I would like to thank Maxis for giving me the opportunity to review the Samsung Galaxy S. I have never done a gadget review before so I hope Maxis is happy with all the reviews that I've done so far.

And I would also like to thank the #Maxis10 bloggers for all the tricks and tips on using the Samsung Galaxy S. For a gadget noob, I've learned a lot during this two week ordeal.

Despite the plasticity, noise from video recording, lousy message notifications and no camera LED flash, the phone still leaves a very strong positive impression on me. If you are not impressed with the HD videos, have you seen any other phone screen as beautiful as the super AMOLED screen of Samsung Galaxy S? Or swype texting that will get you so addictive; you will swype on every touchscreen phone you come across?! As a matter of fact, I am blogging this from the swype keyboard! Sheesh. This is one phone I wish to continue using.

Samsung Galaxy S is an easy and fun to use Android phone. Read all my previous reviews under the Maxis10 label.

What I dislike about the Samsung Galaxy S

Message notification
Apparently the message notification doesn’t go away if you press the HOME key after reading an incoming message. After reading a new incoming message, you MUST press on the BACK key. I find this quite ridiculous as the BACK key will become a two-step process if you did reply to the incoming message. Here’s a video of what I mean.

Sorry about the video quality. This video was taken using a HTC Hero. Lalala~

Why wouldn’t the message notification go away if I press the HOME key instead of the BACK key? My boyfriend’s rational is that pressing on the HOME key does not close an application immediately so the message app is still running in the background. If this is the rational that Samsung uses, then this is bizarre. It’s ONLY a notification. If the phone is so intelligent with the SWYPE keyboard, why can’t it be intelligent enough to identify that the notification has been read??

Customized message tone
Unfortunately, if you want to have a customized message tone, you have to place the song/sound file under the Notification folder before retrieving it under Settings. As a matter of fact, I didn't know this could be done until I asked for help from fellow #Maxis10 bloggers via Twitter.

What a tedious way to get a customized message tone. But I also found out that this is an issue of Android OS.

Answering calls
To answer a call, I have to slide with my fingertip the ACCEPT icon from left to right. To reject a call, slide to the opposite direction. I know, BIG DEAL. But I still don’t favor this form of answering mode.

You have to slide the ACCEPT icon over to the green dot on the right to answer the call.

Noise from video recording
I think I’ve mentioned this in two of my previous reviews. The noise from the background while recording a video can be distraction. It would be great if Samsung can improve this bit by filtering the background noise.

Black outs
It may be running on a 1Ghz processor, but I still get black outs every now and then. The black outs can happen between 2 – 6 seconds, seems like a quick one, but it is still worrying. It makes you wonder how long this phone will last in the long run.

Samsung KIES (Phone to PC sync software)
Uninstall this if you have just downloaded (yeahh, they didn’t provide the CD) and installed it. It’s unstable. You are better off connecting via the mass storage. Oh wait, that didn’t work for me either. Screw this!

Plasticity
I know that they are trying to make the phone as light as possible, but the back cover turns out to be very plastic. And instead of just showing off the pattern of carbon fiber, they should have replaced the material with carbon fiber itself which is also known for being lightweight.

No flash
Yup, sad to note that the camera has no LED flash. But I can still turn a blind eye on this because it can still snap great pictures at night despite not having a flash! Hehe..

Oh well, there's always room for improvement!

What I like about my Samsung Galaxy S

Personalized home screens
You get seven home screens with Samsung Galaxy S so you get to put a lot of widgets and apps that you use on daily basis on the home screens!

Each screen can be personalized so you can have one screen dedicated to Internet (Browser, Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare, Emails, etc), one for music, one for calendar/daily briefs and one for photos. You can even have one screen dedicated for your boyfriend (put his contacts details, picture folder of you and him, the Direct Message widget so you can just touch and send message from the screen itself, etc). Hehe.

Super AMOLED screen
This feature you cannot deny lah. Super AMOLED screen is fantastic. You have to see it, feel it, and experience it, to believe it! The color display is so lively that you just want to show off to all your friends. Haha.

Swype
This is another feature that will make anyone impress. Without having to lift your finger, you can type a message by just drawing the path of the word you intend to type. Swype will try to identify the word you type and if it is unable to identify, it will list you some choices. Below is my attempt at typing the word ‘Help’. Notice that I didn’t even start from the letter ‘H’? Yeahh, I didn’t and it was still intelligent enough to identify the word I intended.

Do you also know that this is the fastest way to type on a touchscreen? PROVEN through a Guinness World Record in March 2010 by a Swype intern named Franklin Page. He managed to input 160 characters in just 35.5 seconds using Swype. Oh wai~

Camera
YOU MUST LOVE WHAT THE CAMERA CAN DO TO YOUR PICTURES. With so many modes to choose from and at 5.0mp, this brings down all the smartphone household names like iPhone and Blackberry.

Video
Must you NOT love the super nice video quality especially when viewing it on your Super AMOLED screen? O_o Besides this, read how Sapiensbryan views his video on his TV screen without having to transfer it to a CD or DVD. Yup, we’re talking direct output here. :)

Pinch and zoom
I know you could do this on most of the touch screen phones but yeahh, I love to find blackheads on my nose in my pictures and zooming into websites for no particular reasons but simply thrilled at the pinch and zoom feature on the phone. Haha!

Music player
Although I’ve mentioned in my previous post that I don’t really like the audio quality while recording video, I beg to differ on the music player because it is awesome! I usually can’t stand music played without the earphone because the sound projection is just bad, but with Samsung Galaxy S, I don’t have to play my CDs in the car, I can just play the songs out from the phone. For more review on the music player, go over to Keeman’s blog.

Connectivity
Must forgive me for loving the fact that I can wifi from this phone because my Corby cannot, okay? I can even turn my Samsung Galaxy S into a wireless modem so my brother and I can enjoy surfing the net from several laptopSSSS. But the downside is – how fast can a mobile internet be?? LOL! Then there is the internet browser that loads fast and easy to use. For someone who loves to give her shout outs, the Twitter and Facebook widget is very useful too.

I know I have a lot of nice things to say about the Samsung Galaxy S. Fret not because tomorrow I will reveal to you some little things that I think Samsung ought to modify, improve and fine-tune.
